Life can be challenging at times, we can become overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, depressed and lose sight of who we truly are. We can get stuck in just surviving day to day and not enjoy this experience of life. We encounter issues in our family life, the loss of someone, or even something that is important to us. We hold high expectations for ourselves and what we picture for our future and with unexpected challenges, it can be hard to bounce back and move forward through difficult times.
Finding tools, and support to aid you mentally and physically can be challenging. With Individual counseling we work in a collaborative partnership involving meeting by phone or virtually (in person by special arrangement) in a safe and confidential environment with a goal of discussing and resolving the challenges you may be experiencing. We work together to help you overcome these challenges, connect with your self, remember who you are and begin to thrive.
Weather permitting we can facilitate walk-n-talk therapy instead of or in combination with traditional counselling in the office. This form of treatment incorporates walking outdoors while speaking about your presenting issues with the Psychotherapist.
This therapy will encourage you to be more physically active and often help you get “unstuck” when confronting complex issues.
This may not be good if you experience physical health challenges that limit your ability to walk for up to one hour in length.
Getting outdoors allows you to tap into your creativity and deeper thinking that is often released by mood-improving physical activity.
New Ways is a structured parenting skills method intended to reduce the impact of conflict on the children in potentially high-conflict divorce and separation cases.
This method emphasizes strengthening skills for positive future behavior (new ways), rather than focusing on past negative behavior – while still acknowledging it. It helps to protect children as their families re-organize in new ways after a separation or divorce, by teaching parents skills for long-term co-parenting.
Providing a safe and confidential space allows for an open discussion and assistance in problem-solving, with expertise in supporting a variety of different challenges and barriers. By exploring thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
